Position: NEW - Supplier Development Engineers - 1 electrical & 1 mechanical

Major world leader manufacturer is looking to fill the following 2 positions: Electrical and/or Electronics Engineer supports plant suppliers on a global scale. Mechanical Engineer supports plant suppliers on a global scale. Both positions report directly to the Site Sourcing leadership and assigned to specific sourcing projects and sourcing leadership worldwide.
These Engineering positions will: Aid in developing and managing all related technical support required for outsourcing, re-sourcing, consolidating or low cost country sourcing projects to achieve industry world class quality and best total costs for operations. Direct, monitor and review supplier activities through initial sample articles, capability data and PFMEA; Assist suppliers in problem solving effectiveness including root cause analysis through implementation of corrective actions; Conduct Supplier Assessments for potential new and existing suppliers; Work with Suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance; Interface with Customers on critical supplier issues as necessary; Sourcing Quality Planning (SQP) kick-off meetings and supplier design reviews, acting as interface between the supplier and product engineering; Ensure that all phases of the SQP process are completed according to TFS standards and are delivered on time; Participate, as needed, on teams and effectively interact with other technical departments and assembly plant personnel assisting on issues related to purchased components; Provide support and lead as needed to ensure that continuous quality and process improvements as well as organizational cost reduction targets with the supplier base are met. Assist in technical reviews in support of Supplier Consolidation Programs. Research and analyze data such as internal design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility and requirements of external supply. Assure supplier involvement and ability to support design and manufacturability of products and systems. Plans and directs engineering efforts in support of supplier launch, including the design and fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Will aid sourcing in directing and coordinating fabrication and installation activities with selected source(s) to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications and product quality. Evaluates supplier installations and recommends modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions, improved quality, and improved throughput. Has proven success and experience in supporting supplier and product launch, removing technical roadblocks in order to achieve program costs and timing, Support supplier selection and supplier management in a disciplined process (e.g. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)) Assist in the analysis of quotations provided by suppliers and track the impact of engineering changes on product cost. Assists suppliers in gaining understanding of product requirement to ensure desired quality and performance. Prepares sufficient engineering documentation to implement product sourcing within the time and budget constraints of the project and in compliance with ISO 9001 and FDA guidelines. Aids supplier in line-balance, work flow, and efficient manufacturing processes to achieve best possible throughput reducing wastes, based on LEAN concepts. Aids sourcing in achieving cost savings. Stays abreast of new technologies and materials relevant to his/her field of expertise. Has depth of knowledge in multiple component manufacturing processes supported by LEAN and Six Sigma documented work experience, Has knowledge, experience, and hands-on leadership core values and keen people skills driving the sourcing organization in support of the product development team(s) Possesses a proven record for delivering a quality event on-time and within plan estimates.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY Actively seek out and pursue improvement opportunities within the global supply chain assigned. Lead and Support the Supplier Rationalization Plan from a technical standpoint, providing technical assessments of suppliers subject to rationalization. Support the product transfers generated by the Plan. Proactively influence specification errors or updates from early concept and R&D to achieve best position in cost and timing for suppliers product launch. Align and document sourcing of materials with prints and specifications to achieve best total cost for operational success. Document and follow-through to assure a documented ISO process. Ensure that all processes & procedures that facilitate external supply are in line with ongoing requirements across the necessary Certifications (ISO9001/TL9000/ISO14001) and related legislative requirements. Organize early stage project activities to include suppliers and their input for early source selection and directional costing. Up to 50% travel required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Strategic Sourcing - Electrical Engineer: Minimum of BSEE Minimum of 5 years experience, 10 years or more preferred, in the design and development of digital and analog circuits for embedded electronics Some assembly and C language familiarity a plus Strategic Sourcing - Mechanical Engineer Minimum of BSME Minimum of 5 years experience, 10 years or more preferred, in the design and development of digital and analog circuits for embedded electronics Both Positions: Masters in Business preferred. 10 15 years experience in SDE functions, strategic sourcing support, manufacturing, project or product launch management, APQP, etc. Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, consensus-building, and analytical skills with the ability to work successfully in cross functional teams in an organized, fast paced environment while meeting time sensitive deadlines is a must.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Able to expedite and remove technical roadblocks for supplier success. Proven track record for improving throughput by through process excellence and related tools. Solid communication and documentation skills to achieve program success. ISO9000/ TL9000/ISO14001/TS16949 hands-on experience execution and knowledge. Low to Medium volume experience. Global manufacturing experience. Very strong relocation package is provided and excellent benefit package to include 401K with 100% match to 6%.
